To confront rapidly rising housing costs, the Seattle region is undertaking a multifaceted effort to improve housing affordability. One component of that plan is to utilize publicly owned parcels to increase the supply of affordable homes. This effort is particularly timely given the current build-out of the region’s public transportation system, which creates opportunities for joint development and increased affordable housing production in transit-served neighborhoods. With generous support from the JP Morgan Chase Foundation, Enterprise is currently organizing a multifaceted initiative to better leverage this opportunity and overcome the complexities and challenges of the process for planning and implementing development on public parcels.
Updates on publications, events, research and technical assistance related to this initiative will be posted to this site as they become available.
